Why, Why Can't This Moment Last Forever More?, 2016.
Vinyl record, Technics SL-1300 turntable, stereo system, speakers.
A turntable with a ‘repeat’ function plays a record over and over. As the record player’s tone arm comes down, seven seconds of audio play: a woman’s voice sings, “Why, why can’t this moment last forever more?” The voice is female, sugary and autotuned. There are a few seconds of crackling record ‘silence’ as the tone arm skates towards the middle of the record. Upon reaching the middle, the turntable resets itself to play the record again from the beginning, so that the question is posed indefinitely.
